Every body of work has a "Day One." This is mine.
When I relocated to Buffalo a few years ago, I was itching to start designing and building. The problem? I didn't have a workshop yet. But the idea of finally putting pen to paper kept pulling at me — so I began in a half-empty workshop with whatever was at hand.
I set a strict brief: something modern and restrained, with enough complexity to teach me the craft. No ornamentation to hide behind. Just solid walnut, clean lines, and the quiet question of whether I could actually pull this off.
This piece still lives with me. It's a constant reminder that the most important part of any creative project isn't having the perfect tools — it's just the decision to start.
